Hi! I haven't vanished off the face of the planet.
Gregory is SIX! Doesn't that sound like a very large number for my little boy? We celebrated at home with Grandma and Grandpa the day before his birthday. Just a favorite dinner of hot dogs, baked beans and homegrown corn, followed by cupcakes and presents.
Auntie Margaret and Uncle Jon sent some Star Wars Legos, which he was SO happy to receive. They go with a different play set that he has, and he's been itching to get these little additions to complete the set-up.
Grandma and Grandpa gave him this MOST appropriate gift, a pogo stick. What could be better for a boy who was almost BORN bouncing? That green training thing on the bottom has been taken off now. He is so excited to have a pogo stick. It's something he's wanted for a long time.
On the actual day of Gregory's birthday, we hopped in the car and headed to Wisconsin to spend a long weekend with Mark and Astrid and the girlies. The weather was great so the kids spent a LOT of time outside building things out of sticks in the forest. It was just a really, really, really fun trip and everyone came home happy.
There was just a whole lot of playing. Playing Wii together, playing on the swing set, playing in the forest... We even went as a whole group to the Dubuque YMCA to use their incredibly wonderful shallow, warm kids' swimming pool for a couple hours on Sunday.
We had another birthday celebration for Gregory and Ava, who have birthdays close to the same time. Aunt Astrid made RAINBOW CUPCAKES!! What could be more fun than that?? 
Look at these two little birthday-havers. They look pretty darned pleased to be in the birthday spotlight, don't they? Ava is such a big girl now that she's four years old. She can say her "R" sound very well! 
There was even a homemade pinata for the kids to whack at. We had fun in every way imaginable! In addition to all the activities, Mark and Astrid rolled out the red carpet for us with amazing meals and treats the entire time we were there. It was a fun-filled, food-filled wonderful time! Homemade cinnamon rolls (the Cinnabon recipe with cream cheese icing... ), the most astonishing smoked ribs, green chili burritos, homemade apple pie, Belgian waffles... are you starting to get a good mental picture of the kind of weenend we had???
Even Baby Rudy got in on the weekend fun. He was an EXCELLENT car traveler and a very good boy all weekend. He loves to meet new people and was so happy to have so many extra sets of hands for pets and cuddles.

Love all those photos! Gregory on a pogo stick. And I thought he was Mr. Bouncy already! I can't imagine him being any bouncier. :)
